Apple Plans Improvement for Apple Intelligence

Apple officially introduced its stand on the AI race during the annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) last June 10. The event centered on Apple's upgrade through its own generative AI model, including improved Siri and iOS 18 features.

Meta and other companies are reportedly eyeing to capitalize on Apple's distribution through iPhones. The first generation of Apple Intelligence is focused on improving simple tasks for users.

According to Apple, the company is planning to expand its capabilities for more complex and specific tasks. Google, Anthropic, and Perplexity are also reportedly discussing with Apple to integrate their generative AI to Apple Intelligence.

Apple Intelligence Welcomes First Partner OpenAI

Prior to WWDC, several reports revealed that Apple and OpenAI were forming a partnership. The event confirmed that Apple is integrating ChatGPT functions into iOS 18, iPadOS, and macOS Sequoia.

OpenAI is now offering a free version of ChatGPT on updated Apple OS through Apple Intelligence. Subscribers of premium and business tiers can also link their ChatGPT account to their device.

Gene Munster, an Apple analyst, claimed that around 10 to 20 percent of Apple users are likely to pay for a premium AI service like ChatGPT. If proven, OpenAI is likely to gain billions of dollars out of its partnership with Apple.

Apart from OpenAI, the companies have yet to finalize the deal. The overall impact of partnering with Apple bears an unclear detail to the financial aspect of other companies at the moment.
