Musk Claims 'Security Violation' on Apple, OpenAI Partnership
In a series of X posts, Musk expressed his concern over the recent collaboration between Apple and OpenAI. Both companies are partnering to integrate ChatGPT functions across Apple devices.
According to Musk, the partnership is "an unacceptable security violation." He also claimed that Apple is clueless to the extent of the partnership.
"It's patently absurd that Apple isn't smart enough to make their own AI, yet is somehow capable of ensuring that OpenAI will protect your security & privacy!" the Tesla CEO wrote.
He then announced his plan to ban Apple devices if the company decides to integrate OpenAI at the OS level.
Apple Partners With OpenAI, Extends Apple Intelligence Introduction
At the core of the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), Apple introduced its own AI system that will power its latest OS. The Apple Intelligence serves as the tech giant's move against the AI race.
Apple defended its decision citing that the OpenAI integration is an optional feature. Users will be asked for permission and all the logged information will not be stored.
Musk has been a vocal critic for the AI company. He was one of the co-founders in 2015 but stepped down from the board in 2018.
Earlier this year, Musk filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, Sam Altman, and others due to alleged abandonment of the company's mission to benefit humanity broadly.
