The disaster surrounding Dr. Disrespect seems to be growing as several sides reveal their own statements. After a former Twitch employee came forward and revealed why the streamer was banned from the streaming site in 2020, Dr. Disrespect released a response to tell his side of the story.

Dr. Disrespect Admits to Messaging a Minor

One of the most problematic allegations that can be pinned on a person is their having inappropriate conversations with a minor. Just ask Drake, who is still being criticized and made fun of to this day on social media.

After a former Twitch employee finally revealed what the content creator was banned for after years of mystery, Dr. Disrespect went ahead and spoke up about the matter with the aim of clarifying what had really happened.

He made a "quick statement" through X, although it was more of an entire article explaining that he did nothing wrong, also admitting that he did send the alleged messages as he is "willing to accept responsibility," as shown in Kotaku.

"Were there [T]witch whisper messages with an individual minor back in 2017? The answer is yes. Were there real intentions behind these messages, the answer is absolutely not," he said, and that the conversation only leaned in the direction of being inappropriate but nothing more.

He clarified that nothing illegal happened, no pictures were shared, and that he never met the individual he planned to meet at TwitchCon back when the conversation took place. "[N]o criminal charges have ever been brought against me."

Dr. Disrespect AKA Guy Beahm,  also owned up to the mistake saying that from a moral standpoint, he should not have entertained the conversation in the first place and that it was on him "as an adult, a husband and a father."

Beahm has held his silence in the last few years following the ban since he was not allowed to say anything, likely due to a non-disclosure agreement since he said it was outside his control. However, a former Twitch employee breaking his silence allowed the streamer to finally speak up about the issue.

The Game Studio He Co-Founded Cut Ties With Him

The reason behind the ban finally surfacing has had devastating consequences. Not only does it permanently mark Beahm as someone who had inappropriate conversations with a minor, but a studio he co-founded also decided to terminate its relationship with him.

Midnight Society posted on X announcing their decision, saying that they have assumed his innocence and spoken with the parties involved. Citing its principles, the studio concluded that they "needed to act."

"For this reason, we are terminating our relationship with Guy Beahm immediately," the company expressed. Beahm himself apologized to everyone at the Midnight Society Game Studio as well for his actions.

"While these facts are difficult to hear and even more difficult to accept, it is our duty to act with dignity on behalf of all individuals involved, especially the fifty-five developers and families we have employed along with our community of players," Midnight Society continued.
