Palworld Creator Partners with Sony to Form a New Company

Palworld grabbed the attention of the gaming world when it was released due to its striking similarity to Pokémon, except there are guns and you can get pals to work for you. It seems that the game's maker, Pocketpair, is moving up in the industry as it partners with Sony.

Pocketpair just announced its new partnership with the entertainment giant and it will form a new company called Palworld Entertainment, Inc., which will bring new products from the studio to the table for fans to purchase.

The new company states that it has the "aim of accelerating the multifaceted development of Palworld and further expanding the IP," and will be responsible for different domestic and international licensing operations.

In other words, the company will produce more products like merchandise among other businesses that will provide the studio with more ways to earn. With Sony at its side, the company could very well be successful in its endeavors.

As mentioned in The Verge, Palworld Entertainment's deal includes anime studio and game publisher Aniplex, Inc. and Sony Music Entertainment, Inc., both of which are under the larger Sony Corporation.

With the partnership, Pockerpair announced that Palworld merchandise will soon be available for pre-order at Aniplex Online, so fans can already imagine what kind of merch it will be.

All it said was that it would start its new licensing push with exclusive merchandise based on the game, so there will be a lineup of products not limited to one form. It can be hoodies, plush toys, action figures, keychains, or whatever they can think of.

It Could Reignite the Popularity of the Game

Palworld not only took over the gaming world for a solid month when it came out, but it took social media by storm as well. Players didn't care that it bore a resemblance to Pokémon. They were just happy to play it.

On PC, it had an all-time peak of 2.1 million players, although that number has gone down since. According to SteamDB, the game now has about 41,600 concurrent players, which is a far cry from the millions it once had.

It saw a brief increase on June 30th with over 140,000 concurrent players, but it has only been going down since. The hype is already going down and surprisingly, Nintendo has not gone through any form of legal action against the video game.

With the Switch maker being known for suing any company or person who so much as steps one toe out of line with its copyright protections, it's almost a wonder why it hasn't done anything yet, although there are a couple of reasons that can explain that.

It might be because it falls under fair use, or because Nintendo knows that going after the popular smaller company might leave a bad taste. Either way, it looks like Palrwold survives another day without the threat of a lawsuit looming over its head.
