Turkey Blocks Social Media Access to Instagram, Threads

Earlier this month, Turkey's communication authority announced that it had blocked access to Instagram. The government reportedly banned Instagram after Meta removed the posts by Turkish users over the killing of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh.

"Sanctions for Instagram's blackout policy were swift. The Information Technologies and Communication Authority blocked access to Instagram," said Yeni Safak, a newspaper close to the government and other media.

Last April, Meta temporarily removed Threads in Turkey after a regulatory decision. Wikipedia was also banned from the country for more than two years.

As for Roblox, the company promised its users that it would discuss with the government to fix any issues that caused the ban in order to bring back the game as soon as possible.
