This is what the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 may look like next to 4.7-inch model

The purported 5.5-inch iPhone 6 has finally leaked in some images of its own, as some dummy models show what the iPhablet will allegedly look like.

Apple has so far stayed out of the large-screen smartphone race, but that's all expected to change this year with its next-generation iPhone. The company is widely expected to unleash two iPhone 6 models later this year, one with a 4.7-inch display and the other with a massive 5.5-inch screen.

So far, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 has leaked on several occasions, while the larger model only starred in a few rumors without any image other than concept designs. This has now changed, as some new model photos reveal physical "dummy" mockups of both sizes of the iPhone 6. The new photos finally show the back and front of the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 models, sitting side by side for an easier comparison.

Well-connected tipster Sonny Dickson has posted intriguing images of the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 dummy mockup, showing both the front and the back of the purported device in white and gold color options.

These images most likely show dummy models manufactured by resellers or case makers, which means they do not depict the fully produced, final model of the 5.5-inch iPhone exactly how it will actually launch. Nevertheless, these new photos do give us a pretty good look at how the iPhablet may look like when it makes its debut.

This larger model seems to be essentially just an oversized version of the design we've already seen for the 4.7-inch iPhone 6. Compared to the current iPhone 5S flagship, however, the new design seems considerably thinner, and it comes with a full-metal rear shell (no more glass) and a new antenna cut design, which falls in line with previous rumors and leaks.

The camera LED flash seems to have a different form than the iPhone 5S's True Tone sensor, while the power button again appears relocated to the right side of the phone instead of at the top. The only difference in design compared to what we have already seen for the 4.7-inch model is that this 5.5-inch unit seems to have a new hole on the top of the front glass, near the FaceTime camera. This may be another microphone, but it might as well turn out to be just a glitch in the production of these dummy models.

Aside from the larger displays and a more rounded form factor, the upcoming iPhone 6 models are further expected to come with a more powerful Apple A8 processor, better battery life, enhanced 4G LTE, wireless charging, and maybe even NFC.

The 4.7-inch iPhone 6 is expected to make its debut this fall, most likely in September, while the 5.5-inch iPhablet will reportedly follow sometime afterwards. Some rumors hinted that the larger model may be delayed until next year, but subsequent reports claimed that Apple had fixed all issues and the 5.5-inch model is on track to launch by the holiday season.

With nothing officially confirmed, however, it is highly advisable to take all leaks, rumors, and speculation with a hefty grain of salt.
