The purported iPhone 6 has just popped up online in a couple of newly-leaked images that may turn out to be the real deal.
The iPhone 6 has starred in numerous leak recently, with all sorts of reports trying to paint a picture of what to expect in terms of specs and design. Apple is widely expected to release its next-generation iPhone in two screen sizes, one with a 4.7-inch screen and the other with a larger 5.5-inch display. The latest leak shows the purported handset in the 4.7-inch screen size, giving us a good look at the front and back of the device, as it poses for the camera alongside the iPhone 5S.
The newly-leaked images come from tipster dreamerJimmy, who posted a few shots of the purported iPhone 6 on his Weibo account. If that name sounds familiar, it's because the same tipster has leaked the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C last year, months before they were official, and turned out to be accurate.
That's no guarantee that these new iPhone 6 leaked images are the real deal, but the tipster's good track record does bolster the credibility of this leak. The images are of decent quality and the handset pictured here seems to fall in line with previous reports.
In the first image (see above), showing the front of the handset, it seems clear that the iPhone 6 will sport much clearer bezels around the display to maximize the extra screen real estate. It also looks like Apple reduced the distance between the display and the Home button of the iPhone 6. Moreover, the distance between the FaceTime camera and the speaker components also seems smaller, while the hole for the camera looks notably larger. It remains unclear, however, whether this means that Apple will be upgrading the device's camera as well.
Moving up to the second photo (see above), the rear of the device seems to fall in line with previous claims that it will sport an all-metal finish except for some inlets at the top and bottom of the device.
The next-generation iPhone 6 is expected to be a thin and light smartphone, despite its larger display, and boast high-end specs and features all around. The handset should make its debut this fall, in September or October, boasting the latest iOS 8 that Apple unveiled recently at its 2014 WWDC.
The 4.7-inch iPhone 6 model is expected to launch first, while the larger 5.5-inch model will reportedly follow afterwards. Nothing is official so far, however, so take these leaks with a grain of salt.
