New Moto X (2014) now $49.99 on Verizon through Moto Maker – Limited-time deal

The new Moto X (2014) from Motorola is now 50 percent off on-contract with Verizon, selling for just $49.99 as part of a limited-time deal.

For this weekend only, the new Moto X for Verizon is available for $49.99 through Moto Maker, when agreeing to sign a two-year contract with the carrier. All other versions of the smartphone maintain their regular pricing, including the rest of the carrier models and the Moto X Pure Edition.

The new Moto X is Motorola's latest flagship smartphone and it boasts notable upgrades on all fronts compared to its predecessor. The original Moto X stirred lots of interest due to its unprecedented and unparalleled customization options, but in terms of hardware it was not very impressive, as it came with mid-range specifications.

The second-generation Moto X, however, takes things to the next level and sports high-end specs and features all around, while still retaining the high customization options. The smartphone features a 5.2-inch Full HD AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels at 424 pixels per inch (ppi). Under the hood, it packs a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz, paired with Adreno 330 graphics and 2GB of RAM. It comes in 16GB and 32GB configurations of internal storage capacity, but has no microSD card support for additional memory.

Other specs include a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front shooter. The smartphone ships with Android 4.4 KitKat on board, but will receive an upgrade to the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop sometime "soon." In terms of appearance, the handset sports a stylish aluminum frame that makes it look more premium and durable.

All of these upgrades, however, come at a cost, and the new Motorola Moto X has a $499.99 price tag off-contract, or even more, depending on where you get it. Carrier subsidies aim to make it more affordable, making the device available for $99.99 when agreeing to sign a two-year contract. Verizon lists the same $99.99 price tag on-contract for the new Moto X 16GB on its website, but choosing the Verizon version of the smartphone from Moto Maker will bring the price down to $49.99.

As previously mentioned, the deal is only good for this weekend, which means that come Monday, Oct. 20, the new Moto X will return to its normal $99.99 price tag on-contract on Verizon as well. To take advantage of this deal, head over to the Moto Maker website at this link and place your order while the offer is still available.
