The Google Nexus 6 smartphone made its debut on Sprint just last week, and now it already boasts a $50 discount across the board.
The Nexus 6 made in collaboration with Motorola comes with quite a hefty price tag compared to its predecessors, as it boasts top-notch specs and features all around. While previous Nexus smartphones came with good specifications and affordable price tags, the new iteration arrives in the top-end category of the smartphone market and sports a price to match.
On Google Play, the Nexus 6 sports a $649 price tag for the 32GB model, while the higher-capacity 64GB variant goes up to $699. Needless to mention, these prices are for the unlocked version of the smartphone, with no subsidies or commitments.
Sprint started selling the Nexus 6 last week, on Nov. 14, but at the time it had a higher asking price for the device. While the Nexus 6 on Google Play cost $649, Sprint was asking for $696 (excluding taxes, service plan required) for the exact same 32GB model. Sprint was also offering the handset for $0 down (plus tax) and $29 per month for 24 months with its Easy Pay plan, or $299 when agreeing to sign a two-year contract.
Just one week later and Sprint has now slashed $50 off the price of the Google Nexus 6. Interested customers who want to purchase the smartphone outright will now have to pay $649 instead of the initial $696, while the subsidized version now costs $249 with a two-year contract instead of $299 as originally priced.
At the same time, interested buyers who prefer to purchase the handset with monthly installments under the Sprint Easy Pay Plan will now have to pay $27 per month for 24 months, instead of $29 as originally priced.
Those who already purchased a Sprint Nexus 6 before this $50 discount, meanwhile, will receive $50 in bill credit. It's worth pointing out that Sprint has not slashed the price of the Nexus 6 as part of a promotion or limited-time offer - the new prices are here to stay, as the $50 discount is permanent.
