Microsoft's next budget smartphone running Windows Phone is expected to come as the Lumia 435 and the handset has reportedly received certification in Brazil.
Not too long ago, the purported Microsoft Lumia 435 was spotted at the FCC, showing its front and back panels and indicating an imminent launch. The FCC listing in question, however, did not make it very clear just what the handset would be called when it debuts.
Nevertheless, the Microsoft Lumia 435 has reportedly received certification in Brazil, confirming its name and model number. So far, reports have suggested that the Lumia 435 would come in several models, including a dual-SIM version and a variant that could carry the Lumia 430 branding. It still remains unclear what specifications it will pack, but it's expected to be a very affordable device with features along the lines of the Lumia 530.
According to a new report from WMPoweruser, Brazilian certification authority Anatel has now revealed that the smartphone will carry model number RM-1068 and come with dual-SIM support. Considering that the Lumia 435 is expected to come with a Snapdragon 200 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, however, LTE connectivity is most likely not in the cards.
The purported Microsoft Lumia 435 is further expected to come with a 4-inch display with WVGA resolution, a 5-megapixel rear camera, no front shooter, 3G HSPA+ connectivity, and the aforementioned dual-SIM support. On the software side, the handset should run Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim on board out of the box.
If these reported specifications turn out to be accurate, the Microsoft Lumia 435 will come as an entry-level Windows Phone handset with modest performance. This, in turn, suggests that it should launch at a low price point, targeted at budget shoppers and first-time smartphone users. WMPoweruser notes that the smartphone should cost roughly $56, which would make it the cheapest Lumia yet.
No official information is currently available at this point regarding the Lumia 435, but Microsoft is expected to take the wraps off the device at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 trade show in March. We'll keep you up to date as soon as more information becomes available, but take all leaks, rumors and reports with a grain of salt until the company makes a formal announcement.
