BlackBerry Passport $100 off in U.S., $125 off in Canada for Valentine’s Day weekend

BlackBerry Passport fans are in for a special treat, as the smartphone is now available for $100 off in the U.S. and $125 off in Canada.

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, a number of attracting offers are starting to surface to help consumers celebrate the occasion in a big way. As part of a new Valentine's Day weekend promotion, BlackBerry has now slashed the price of its highly-praised Passport smartphone. The offer is available only for a limited time, as it will expire on Monday, Feb. 16.

"It's no secret that people are head over heels in love with the BlackBerry Passport, and starting today, we're spreading that love further," the company touted in a new blog post on Wednesday, Feb. 11.

"The Red BlackBerry Passport is the perfect color for the productive mobile professional who values power, performance and style. The color makes a vivid statement and this Valentine's Day, it's the perfect way to show your appreciation for someone special in your life and help them Work Wide."

If red isn't exactly the color you'd choose for a smartphone, however, fear not. BlackBerry is extending the same promotional discount to the white and black versions of the BlackBerry Passport as well. As previously mentioned, Canadian customers can now get the handset for $125 off from the company's online store at this link, while interested buyers in the U.S. can purchase the BlackBerry Passport for $100 off here.

The black and white variants of the BlackBerry Passport typically sell for $599 in the U.S., while the red variant goes up to $699. With the discount, U.S. shoppers will be able to get the black and white models for $499, and the red model for $599.

As a reminder, BlackBerry unveiled its intriguing Passport smartphone back in September 2014, touting the handset's great functionality thanks to its square-ish form factor. The device features a 4.5-inch display with an odd resolution of 1440 x 1440 pixels and rocks a QWERTY keyboard complete with touchpad gestures to allow for easier typing.

Under the hood, the BlackBerry Passport packs a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.26GHz, 3GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage capacity, and microSD card support for additional memory of up to 128GB. Other specs include a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front shooter, and a 3,450 mAh battery to keep things up and running.

On the software side, the powerful BlackBerry Passport runs BlackBerry 10.3 OS, which includes the company's new digital assistant and also allows users to run Android apps through the Amazon AppStore.

As previously mentioned, this promotional Valentine's Day weekend discount for the BlackBerry Passport will expire on Monday, Feb. 16, so interested customers might want to take advantage of this offer while it lasts.
