Sony is continuing its Android 5.0 Lollipop update rollout for its Xperia lineup of devices, and the company just posted a new update.
A couple of weeks ago, Sony officially announced that it was starting to push Android 5.0 Lollipop to the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact smartphones. At the time, the company said the update would first hit devices in the Nordics and Baltics, while other markets and more Xperia Z devices would get it "starting in around two weeks time."
Sony promised to post updates as soon as it has more news to share in regards to its Android 5.0 Lollipop rollout, and the company has now made good on its word. The upgrade rollout is expanding, continuing its journey to more regions and devices.
"Our Android 5.0, Lollipop upgrade continues from today for Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, and next week for Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet - now rolling out to further markets worldwide," Sony touts in a new company blog post on Monday, March 30.
"We're also pretty excited to confirm that Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3 will also receive Lollipop... stay tuned, as we'll be sharing more on timings soon."
After the update, Sony Xperia devices will feature a fresher and smoother look based on Google's Material design, but retaining Sony's minimalistic approach to app design and user interface. A new look notifications and lock screen are also on the table, bringing fully customizable settings so users can choose what information to receive. Multi user profiles, meanwhile, will make it easier to share a device with other family members or create separate environments for work and personal things. Lastly, Android for Work will boost productivity, while improved storage control and customization (including the option to move apps to SD card) will enable users to better control their device.
