The Lenovo LaVie Z notebook has just passed through the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), indicating an imminent debut in the U.S.
Lenovo has officially taken the wraps off its new LaVie Z notebook at CES 2015 back in January, and said at the time that the device would become available in the U.S starting in May.
If a new FCC listing is any indication, the Lenovo LaVie Z is right on track to hit commercial availability in the U.S. this month, just as promised.
As a reminder, the Lenovo LaVie Z is a sleek notebook with a 13.3-inch display, an Intel Broadwell (fifth-generation) processor under the hood, and a thin and light design. The device is just 0.67 inches thick and tips the scales at roughly 1.7 pounds.
Lenovo is expected to offer two versions of the notebook, in order to suit more needs and budgets. A Lenovo Lavie Z HZ500 model weighs 1.72 pounds, while a LaVie Z HZ750 weighs 2.04 pounds and is a 2-in-1 hybrid with a touchscreen display that can flip back 360 degrees and allow the device to serve as a tablet.
Convertible devices have proved to be quite popular in recent times, and it seems that more companies are joining this trend with intriguing 2-in-1 hybrids.
Both LaVie Z models will reportedly be available with a choice of 1920 x 1080 or 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution, and both will pack fifth-generation Intel Core i7 processors for a high-end performance. Other specs include either 4GB or 8GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, two USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port, and an SD reader.
The HZ550 model has a four-cell, 29.6 Wh battery, while the HZ750 model comes with a larger 6-cell, 44.4 Wh battery. The Lenovo LaVie Z HZ550 will be available for $1300, while the HZ750 convertible variant will go up to $1500.
We don't have a specific date yet for when the Lenovo LaVie Z will go on sale in the U.S., but it shouldn't be too long now. The FCC certification is further indication that a commercial release is imminent, and it could happen any day now. We'll keep you up to date as soon as more information comes to light, so stay tuned.
