A new smartphone with 4GB of RAM will soon hit the market, as Lenovo is gearing up to launch its high-end K80 handset next week.
Not too long ago, ASUS introduced its impressive ZenFone 2 as the world's first smartphone to boast a whopping 4GB of RAM. Xiaomi followed suit with its Mi Note Pro, which also packs 4GB of RAM, and Lenovo now joins the party with its new K80 smartphone.
The new Lenovo K80 is expected to go head to head with the ASUS ZenFone 2, as the two handsets have similar specifications and price tags.
Speaking of specifications, the Lenovo K80 comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and packs a 64-bit Intel Atom processor under the hood, clocked at 1.8GHz and paired with 4GB of RAM. Other specs include 64GB of internal storage capacity, a 13-megapixel rear camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), LTE support, and a large 4,000 mAh battery.
According to CNMO (via Phone Arena), the Lenovo K80 will come in several color options, including black, silver, and red, as seen in the image above. The handset reportedly measures 8.5mm in thickness.
When it comes to pricing and availability, the new Lenovo K80 will hit the market on April 30, launching in China for 1,799 CNY, i.e. roughly $290. Lenovo will reportedly release a cheaper model as well, which will come with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage capacity for 1,499 CNY, i.e. about $240.
It remains unclear at this point whether the Lenovo K80 will make its way to other markets as well, but the company should offer more details shortly. For now, the only information available relates to the device's launch and pricing in China.
With the ASUS ZenFone 2, Xiaomi Mi Note Pro, and Lenovo K80 already rocking 4GB of RAM under the hood, more OEMs are expected to follow suit and launch top-notch powerhouses with 4GB of RAM. At this rate, things are expected to heat up quite nicely this year on the highly-competitive and fast-paced mobile market. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we have more information, so stay tuned.
