It has been months since people first got wind of the newest operating system from Android, the Android Marshmallow.
Android is the most widely used operating system in technology today, and more than half of all smartphones in the market are powered by the operating system. Android Marshmallow promises to be the sweetest among Android's confection-named operating systems.
And the much-awaited OS has gone live on Oct. 6, Tuesday. According to ETTelecom, the new OS has a lot to offer for Android users. Useful apps such as Doze and Now On Tap. Doze is said to increase the battery life of Marshmallow devices by 30 percent, as it analyzes the user's habits in using the device. It saves up battery for the device while not in use.
Now On Tap, on the other hand, gives some handy feedback to users regarding device usage, like, for instance, in the context of their emails. Apart from that, Now On Tap can be a pretty good companion for when users want to catch flicks on weekends. The dpfeature displays showing times of movies in local theaters. Now that is one update worth having.
Approval of apps in Android Marshmallow is the user's discretion. Users will be able to control which features an app can access on the device and to other apps. The Android Marshmallow is bringing in a lot of great news, but the upgrade for the new operating system has been made available only to Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player. The OS comes pre-installed to the upcoming Nexus 5X and 6P models.
The update has begun to roll out on Tuesday, and Google has not announced when other devices will be getting the Android Marshmallow. Manufacturers have also yet to announce when their products will get a hold pf the new operating system. For now, Android users should just keep their tabs on the Android Marshmallow website for announcements.
