It seems "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" is still having a hard time putting out the fire. Since the release of the game's first ever reveal trailer, Activision experienced a huge deal of disappointment from the community. While it is safe to say that the upcoming title did not sit well to most fans, all the dislikes are still worth investigating.
As of this writing, the "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" video has accumulated roughly 25 million views. Unfortunately, it witnessed over 2 million dislikes -- completely far from the 400,000 thousand likes it got. With that in mind, there is no doubt that it is one of the most hated videos on YouTube.
So why would a franchise that is something so big has become too small to even receive good impressions? Below are some of the reasons why.
The Futuristic Setting
According to Tech Times, one of the reasons "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" was loathed by many was due to its sci-fi setting. Fans have actually been expecting for it to be more grounded on a modern-day scenery. It is not that sci-fi elements do not work with video games -- many just believe that the franchise is not equipped for it.
Rejection of Community Feedback
Reports after reports have cited how Activision continues to reject feedback and/or ideas from its community. If only it had listened, the outcome of "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" would have been more pleasing than what it is today. And take note: gamers tend to get frustrated if their voices are not heard -- let alone not being considered.
Fans Want a Return to the Origins
Over the course of years, fans have been clamoring for a return to the series' origins. Sure, "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" was well-received, but only because it was really a good game. However, as reported by The Guardian, fans have been very outspoken about not wanting an installment about space robots and drones alike -- something that "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" has.
