Microsoft Office Gets Updated With 'Tell Me' Feature

Microsoft has introduced a new feature called "Tell Me" that helps users learn how to use specific Office applications.

Android Police reports that the idea behind "Tell Me" is to provide essentially a search box with a few predictive algorithms that would help users find some of the less obvious features. For the moment, the new feature comes to the Android versions of Microsoft Office applications Word, Excel and PowerPoint, but it is expected to be implemented in all versions of Office.

Android Authority reports that the new "Tell Me" feature can be accessed by tapping the light bulb icon. Users can simply start typing once the text box is available. This way, they can inquire about topics they want to find info on and get the necessary help.

The light bulb icon can be found by tapping on the top of the interface, on the "A" and pencil icon. Then just select the light bulb. For tablet users, the process is a bit easier, because they have more space on their screens. For tablet owners, the light bulb icon can be found on the top-right corner.

The new "Tell Me" feature is not the only update to the Office applications. In Word, it has been also implemented the ability to merge and split cells. In Excel, it has been implemented the ability to expand or collapse grouped rows and columns as well as an improved auto-complete function. Aside from "Tell Me," only PowerPoint seems to not be getting new features.

Considering the popularity of the Microsoft Office apps, "Tell Me" is a very welcomed addition. Among the reasons these apps are so popular is specifically the fact that they are more complex and full. It can become challenging keeping track of all these features, even to experts. In this context, "Tell Me" is certainly a helpful addition.
