PlayStation 4 owners are certainly quite disappointed with "Rise of the Tomb Raider" still not making its way through the console. Although Square Enix has yet to unveil any specifics, lots of fans are already losing hope. Reports suggest that the title is likely not to arrive to Sony's system due to the game's possilbe low earnings in terms of sales. Meanwhile, for Xbox One users, they can now acquire the game for as low as $25.
"Rise of the Tomb Raider" was first released last year, arriving to Xbox One. After all, Square Enix had a timed exclusivity deal with Microsoft. Nevertheless, the Tokyo-based video game company announced their intentions to release the game on PlayStation 4. The only catch, however, is until now, it has yet to acquire an official release date.
If "Rise of the Tomb Raider" will indeed arrive to Sony's console, it is feared not to make such a huge impact, simply due to the fact that fans have long endured the waiting game. Additionally, as reported by Parent Herald, there is a higher chance that the title will not arrive to PlayStation 4.
The main reason the game will not release on the PS4 is its relative impact to the market. On a report by Michael Pachter of Wedbush Securities, timed exclusivity deals have their own cons, one is having a solid market leader. Hence if a title is not on that platform, it is very likely to lose a "major market opportunity."
As for Microsoft or other known competitors, they have to find a way to reimburse all the lost opportunities. In fact, the tech giant has reportedly spent a whooping amount of $20M in advertising "Rise of the Tomb Raider" alone. And clearly, this is the cost of having a timed exclusivity deal.
In related news, Xbox One owners will surely be happy knowing that they can acquire "Rise of the Tomb Raider" for $25. According to GameSpot, this is among Best Buy's offers for Deal of the Day. And yes, the figure is deemed as the lowest price ever for the title.
"Rise of the Tomb Raider" was one of the highly anticipated games at Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). Fans were waiting for Square Enix to officially announce its arrival to PS4. Unfortunately, it did not happen.
