'Rise Of The Tomb Raider' PS4 Version Cancelled? Square Enix Rumored To Have Pulled The Curtains Down

"Rise of the Tomb Raider" was among the highly anticipated games, prior to its release. As of this writing, the game has already been released for Xbox consoles. Although it was expected to arrive on PlayStation 4 within year, it seems to be not happening at all. Rumor has it Square Enix has taken the curtains down on releasing the game on the said platform.

According to Mobile & Apps, the studio has remained mum about the release of "Rise of the Tomb Raider" on PlayStation 4. In fact, lots of fans were expecting for a big reveal at the recently concluded Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). However, to their dismay, it did not happen.

"Rise of the Tomb Raider" has a timed exclusivity deal with all Microsoft platforms. The Tokyo-based video game company, however, revealed its intention to bring the title to PS4 consoles as well. According to the rumor mill, however, the game's release on other platforms seems unlikely.

Reports suggest that fans were left confused when both Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics chose to work with Microsoft for "Rise of the Tomb Raider" instead of Sony. This decision was made despite the massive sales acquisition of the latter's console.

As reported by SegmentNext, the "Rise of the Tomb Raider" fans have since been waiting for Lara Croft to arrive to the PS4 platform. The wait has been stretched to the limits, considering that the game was released to Xbox consoles way back in November of last year.

Crystal Dynamics' studio head, Darrell Gallagher, revealed that the PS4 version of "Rise of the Tomb Raider" will be available during the Holiday season this year. And even if this is true, the game is still almost a year late compared to its Xbox counterpart. Meanwhile, the PC version of "Rise of the Tomb Raider" was unleashed early this year.
