According to the recent rumors, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 that is expected to be launched in early August will feature an Iris scanner.
There were other reports previously claiming that the upcoming device will include an Iris scanner. Now, GSM Arena reports that an image of the device's front panel comes to confirm the rumors.
The image shows that the upcoming Samsung device will have a dual edge panel and will measure 5.8-inches. The alleged Note7 front panel also shows big cutouts that are placed there for the iris scanner to properly function. It is known that such a device would need three lenses.
Android Authority is the first publication to reveal the leaked image of Samsung's next Note. The image has been provided by their exclusive tipster @onleaks. A recent patent application by Samsung seems to confirm the Iris scanner feature.
The application describes how the new feature would work, explaining that three lenses would be required for accurate recognition. The three circular holes shown by the leaked front panel image at the top of the Note 7 seem to match the location of the three lenses.
The leak also reveals that Samsung will renounce at its logo on the front of the handset. Considering that the iris scanner needs to be mounted above the display the South Korean manufacturer will have to reduce the amount of bezel above the screen.
Up to date, based on other reports, it is known that the Galaxy Note 7 will come with a new Exynos chip (or the Snapdragon 821/823 in some markets), 6GB of RAM and a 5.8-inch Quad HD dual-edge Super AMOLED display. The upcoming Samsung flagship device will feature a battery size of between 3,600mAh and a 4,000mAh improved 12-megapixel camera with dual-pixel phase detection autofocus.
It is expected that Samsung will launch the Galaxy Note on August 2.
