Xiaomi YI 4K Action Camera vs Go Pro Cameras: Resolution, Portability Comparison; Now Available On Amazon

Earlier this year, Xiaomi released the YI 4K, its bet against the incredibly popular GoPro. However, for the first few months after its launch, it stayed available only in the Chinese market. That is, until today. Starting July 12th, the device has been available for American customers.

The device, which can be purchased through Amazon, comes in an option of black, white. And while customers could have purchased the same from other websites, this is the first time that it is coming with an American warranty. Alone, the YI 4K is priced at $249. However, Amazon has provided a bundled option for the price of $249. The bundle comes with the Xiaomi YI 4K with a selfie stick and a Bluetooth remote.

The device records 4K/30FPS for videos with takes photos with a 12-megapixel camera using a 155° wide-angle lens with F2.8 aperture. It also has an LCD touch screen and built-in Bluetooth and high-speed GHz/2.4GHz Wi-Fi support for the wireless remote control.Users can view and edit their photos and videos via the YI Action App.

The Xiaomi YI 4K is only 3.4 ounces and 2.6 x 1.6 x 1.2 inches all around. Reportedly, the battery will last twice as long as the Go Pro battery as well. In fact, almost 120 minutes of video footage can be recorded on a single charge.

According to Gizmag, the GoPro Hero4 action camera is just 1.61 x 2.32 x 1.18 inches all around, without the unit's protective casings. However, it does weigh just 2.92 ounces. It also has 4K/30FPS feature, which was an upgrade from the GoPro Hero3+, which was incapable of the same.

The publication goes on to say that the GoPro camera will never be the best at recording stills as it was and will continue to be built for more action packed media.
