HIS Radeon RX 480 Features Original Design

HIS has launched its Radeon RX 480 IceQX2 graphics card that incorporates a design far away from the reference design of the original AMD Radeon RX 480.

The HIS Radeon RX 480 video card comes with a backplate and a metal body, according to TechFrag. The HIS GPU features an IceQX2 custom cooler that provides upgraded cooling performance and comes with intelligent fan controller software,

According to the website wccftech.com, the HIS custom cooler comes with original features that are not found in the reference coolers. VideoCardz reports that the metallic back-plate helps in dropping the temperature of the GPU to a certain extent and aims to deliver more integrity to the entire video card.

The metallic fan shroud slightly increases the weight of the graphics card and is also designed to increase the physical strength of the entire product. HIS has also included LED illumination for its custom RX 480.

Another feature never seen till now on non-reference graphic cards is the innovative 0dB technology. Unless the temperature reaches a certain level, the 0dB technology ensures that the fans will not spin. This feature helps maintaining the strength of the fan bearing and it is also helpful for those users who prefer to avoid the noise emanating from the GPU.

HIS RX 480 variant is based AMD's Radeon RX 480 GPU manufactured on the latest GCN 4.0 architecture. The graphics card makes use of the FinFET architecture in order to deliver better overall performance, lesser voltage leak and low power consumption.

AMD also deploys a completely new architecture for Polaris chips. Among the enhanced features are included hardware scheduler, primitive discard accelerator, improved shader efficiency, instruction pre-fetch and memory compression.

The custom-made GPU from HIS is coming with a higher price tag. However, the original design of the high-performance graphics card based on the Radeon RX 480 introduces some interesting features that may provide good value for the price.
