In just the course of several weeks, the augmented reality smartphone game "Pokemon Go" has gone from a mega hit to a broken game and even its most ardent fans are starting to ask for refunds.
According to Forbes, the over the weekend moves of "Pokemon Go" developer Niantic Labs are the reason for making so many former game's fans furious. While a new update that removed the footsteps from the "nearby" tracking screen made the in-game tracking impossible, at the same time all the third-party tracking apps have been shut down.
This situation leaves gamers very upset and they are starting to use the lack of tracking as a reason to ask for refunds for Pokecoin purchases on both Android and iOS. The refund requests are successful, since the argument is that at the time when they made the purchases "Pokemon Go" advertised tracking but now that feature is no longer available.
A Reddit thread contains some mentions for people in customer support complaining that they have been overwhelmed by "Pokemon Go" refund requests. As more and more people start requesting refunds, it remains to be seen how this issue is going to be handled.
According to Kotaku, since the in-game tracking feature has been removed by the latest "Pokemon Go" update and Niantic is also shutting down website that offer tracking apps helping gamers hunt specific monsters within the game, now the only way to find a Pokemon is to go in blind and count on luck.
In such circumstances, it is not surprising that fans are getting so angry, especially those players who already invested some actual money on the free-to-play app. There are now high numbers of players asking for refunds. Others are flooding the "Pokemon Go" app with one-star reviews on the app store.
Things have really escalated and from a highly popular game now "Pokemon Go" seems more as a broken and disappointing game. To make things even worse, some current conspiracy theory on Reddit claims that the latest update by Niantic has been totally useless and pushed just to erase negative reviews from last weekend.
