The iPhone 7 will reportedly be launched this September. It is also rumored that new wireless earphones might be included with the upcoming iPhone model.
Many are already expecting that the 3.5 mm headphone jack will not be included in the iPhone 7. Observers believed that Apple may include some kind of earphones that could be connected to the Lightning port. The smartphone company may also possibly include Bluetooth capable headphones. However, Apple has yet to confirm if it will include either of them in the iPhone 7's official release.
Meanwhile, there have been reports that Apple has filed for a trademark regarding a certain product known as the "AirPods", according to Forbes. The company that filed the trademark has no known connections to Apple.
However, it's been known that the Cupertino based company has adopted these kinds of tactics before in registering its products. The timing of the trademark application has led to speculations that Apple will soon announce the release of new wireless earphones which will probably be called AirPods.
Apple users could avail of wireless earphones from any number of third party vendors. Even Apple has its own earphone product, Beats. However, almost all of them are a big drain on the batteries. This time speculators are betting that the AirPods will be energy efficient, according to Apple Insider. Their basis for this is Apple's acquisition of Passif Semiconductor, a company that develops energy efficient technology.
Many of Apple's products are usually outsourced from other companies or countries. This time, Apple is reportedly developing the AirPods on its own. Such rumors may make sense considering that such wireless headset are right up Apple's alley.
Rumors of an upcoming AirPod may soon be confirmed or discredited when Apple announces the launching of the iPhone 7. Either the new smartphone will come equipped with the AirPod or the Lightning EarPods.
