Huawei is said to be joining IFA which would be coming the first week of September. There is much speculation that the company would be launching the Huawei Mate 9 on that event. Already a teaser is out about the Mate 9, which indicates that its release would be quite near.
IFA 2016 would be happening on September 2 in Berlin this year. Before the said event, Huawei will likely unveil its new smart phone, the Mate 9. The unveiling will happen on September 1 at 10:30 am CEST, according to Phone Arena. In the U.S. that would be 4:30 am ET.
What would be coming to the Huawei Mate 9 is of much interest. Analyst Pan Jiutang speculates that the new Huawei smart phone will likely have the Kirin 960 processor. A benchmark of the Mate 9 at AnTuTu seems to confirm this. In the benchmark it reveals that the Mate 9 will have an octa-core CPU, which is what the Kirin 960 is.
GSM Arena also reports that the Huawei Mate 9 will likely have 64GB internal storage and 4GB RAM. It will also have Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Its rear camera is slightly unclear though, as a benchmark says that it will be 12MP though a rumor says it will likely have 20 MP. 12MP was the camera resolution of the Huawei P9, so the Mate 9 might just follow that.
Leaked renders show that the Mate 9 will have a rear fingerprint scanner. The rear camera will have LED flash and laser autofocus. On the front it will have an 8MP camera. Specs of the Huawei Mate 9 might still change though prior to its release.
Aside from the Mate 9, Huawei is also said to be unveiling a sub-brand aimed for the mid-range market, as Science World Report says. Huawei Executive Kevin Ho has said that this sub-brand would cater more to the mid-range segment, which is where most consumers are from. This segment is also the most lucrative one in the smart phone industry. Huawei does have a sub-brand already in the Honor line of smart phones.
People are eagerly anticipating what Huawei would be bringing out on September 1. Huawei aims to be a major player in the smart phone industry and is aggressively targeting the important mid-range market. The Huawei Mate 9 hopes to capture at least part of the large smart phone market and bring Huawei closer to the industry's big players.
