Sony has come out with two new smart phones at IFA 2016. These two new phones are the Xperia XZ and the Xperia X Compact. The Sony Xperia XZ is out to replace the Xperia X as the new flagship of Sony's smartphones.
The new Sony Xperia XZ comes with a new material for its body called ALKEIDO. It is a rounded aluminum body that feels much better to the touch, according to GSM Arena. The Xperia XZ moves away from the blockier design of earlier Xperia models and coming more in line with such smartphones as the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
Perhaps one of the best features of the Sony Xperia XZ is its camera, something that has made the Xperia line known for many years. It does not disappoint with the 23 MP rear camera which has the Sony IMX300 sensor and an f/2.0 lens. The IMX300 has thee sensors on it which will make the camera focus quicker, resulting in better quality photos and videos.
The Sony Xperia XZ is rather compact for a flagship smart phone, coming in with only a 5.2 inch screen. It has the Snapdragon 820 for its processor and 32GB internal storage expandable to 200GB through microSD. It has 3GB RAM and a 13MP front camera to complement its main shooter.
The Sony Xperia X Compact would likely be a favorite among consumers, since Sony's compact smartphones have been popular, as Phandroid notes. It shares some similarities with the Xperia XZ, though it also differs in some aspects. Most noticeable would be the size difference. The Xperia X Compact comes in at only 4.6 inches of screen size. For its processor it has the Snapdragon 650.
Just like the Xperia XZ the Xperia X Compact has 32GB of internal storage and 3GB RAM. Its rear camera is also 23MP with IMX300 though it does not support 4K video. On the front is a 5MP camera. Both smartphones come with USB Type-C connection. Both will also have Android Marshmallow as its OS.
Price for both smart phones have not been announced yet. The Sony Xperia XZ will be shipping on October 23 while the Xperia X Compact will ship on September 25.
