Following their work Star Wars Battlefront and Mirror's Edge Catalyst, DICE finally has made a dive back to the Battlefield series. Before a full launch, it is traditional for Battlefield to launch an open beta. However this one seems to be bad news for Xbox One players.
Bad news for Xbox One players:
Good news for PS4 players:
Confirmed over Twitter, Xbox One gamers will need Xbox Live Gold activated to get into open beta while on the other hand Playstation plus is not required. The account, however confirmed that once the game launches in full, PlayStation Plus will then be a requirement to access its multiplayer feature.
But why is Xbox Live Gold required?
As implied by VG247.com that the news may not be a fuzz for most, because the majority of players who are interested in multiplayer games, specifically pioneering in open-betas, do probably have a Gold subscription.
What is in open beta?
- Once you access the open beta, you will gain two game modes that are traditional in Battlefield: Rush and Conquest.
- The map showcased at Gamescom 2016: Sinai Desert, will be the setting for both modes which features:
- Everything from riding horses to blinding sandstorms
- An armored train running across the map
- Requires at least 6.2 GB of hard drive space in order to download
Premium services are also set to launch, as usual. For Battlefield 1, it will be known as 'The Premuim Pass' - how original. The said premium pass gives gamers immediate access to a plethora of content, like additional vehicles, additional weapons, customization and personalization of accessories i.e. dog tags, cap, camouflage, etc, and new elite classes.
The biggest chunk to the season pass, however, is access to all 4 expansion packs, the way they did with Battlefield 4, released over a two year period. DICE didn't have much detail to give but the scoop is the first one: They Shall Not Pass - featuring the French army together with four additional maps.
No official date has been given but it is expected and hyped up to be rolled out by March 2017. Have you tried the open beta? Let us know via the comment section below! Lock and load!
