Hold on to your basic versions, CD Projekt Red has a big treat for you. While the Game of the Year edition is on the horizon, the vanilla version (original release for thos who don't know) also will receive a large patch across all platforms. This makes it a parallel launch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
In a hope to replenish the numbers in sales, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game of the Year edition launches today for the PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.
What's with the vanilla patch?
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, patch 1.30, as reported, will address a number of persistent technical issues that the game has been having like visual and gameplay glitches. Examples are: horse tails disappearing, glitches on quests that seem to be on a forever loop or just be plain stuck in lay man's terms.
Aside from washing away the glitches, today's big update will also add a convenient feature for the PC. Those who own a PS4 and a gaming PC will be of much delight because the UI is improved when using the DualShock4 to control Geralt in PC by incorporating PS4 button prompts. This very much removes much confusion while playing.
Some of the characters, not the main ones, will finally have makeovers also.
The update also would cushion the fact that the GOTY Edition is not compatible with your original console saves.

The vanilla update shows us how committed the game developers are to their customers. Most, if not all, games just ignore the original whenever a GOTY version is in the works. CD Projekt Red is hitting 2 birds with 1 stone on this one, well technically two stones - vanilla update and GOTY, as this campaign also would like to invite new players with the GOTY and keep the old with the vanilla patch.
As of this point you have 2 options:
- Wait for the patch for the original version
- Ditch the old version and go for Game of the Year
- Keep both - so actually you have 3 options!
Personally I choose the third one, this is my own little way of repaying the good guys at CD Projekt Red, I hope you guys can see this article and would like to take this opportunity to somehow express my gratitude in terms of you handling your gamers appropriately. You are the best game devs ever!
