Overwatch has a feature called Play of the Game or PotG. Blizzard has just released a list of PotG favorites following the 1.3 patch.
Top PotG Heroes
Recently, Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan released a list of heroes ranking high in the PotG scene. In Quick Play, the three top ranking heroes are Bastiom, Genji and Torbjorn. In Competetive mode, the top three are Mercy, McCree and Reaper. The heroes on the list were basically expected except for Mercy. Even Kaplan was surprised and said that they will look into her "abnormal PoTG".
Lowest PotG Heroes
The dubious honor belongs to Ana and Lucio which is also expected. Overwatch fans are aware that the two characters do not have weapon that can wipe out bunch of enemy heroes in their area of effective (AoE) attack.
Overwatch Heroes PotG Tactics
Genji's Dragonblade close quarter attack virtual eliminates any opposing team members within his range. Menawhile Bastion and Torbjorn have the turrets to ambush or waylay a several opponents in a single attack. It seems that heroes with deadly surgical strikes or bullet spaying turrets tend to kill the most in Quick Plays.
In competitive play, Reaper and McCree can wipe out many opposing characters with their close-range but deadly weapons. Mercy's healing skills can heal and resurrect several teammates simultaneously.
Blizzard and Players' View on PotG
Observers are curious if Blizzard Entertainment has any intention or ability to balance the abilities of the other characters that don't score so high in PotG. It seems that Blizzard is trying its best to do so. Fans however, or at least the majority do not seem very vocal about PotG heavily favoring characters with the most firepower or cybernetic ninjas. For Overwatch players it seems playing the character they loved is more important than having a high PotG hero.
