As the year unfolds, smartphone makers are also disclosing their offerings. While one fabled smartphone from the Korean electronics giant Samsung has already hit and put the market on whirlwind, another big release from world's biggest brand Apple awaits the smartphone enthusiasts.
With every passing day, rumors are gaining traction on the Web about all possible (and sometimes impossible!) features of the next generation iPhone. The latest that has excited the Apple fanboys is that the phone will be thinner as well as longer than its predecessors.
Mobile Fun in the U.K. has reported a purported leak of "iPhone 5″ case diagrams that shows the thickness of the iPhone 5 will be just 7.6 millimeters. While the website has not confirmed the validity of the information, the claim made by its unnamed source if comes true, the next generation iPhone will not only be 7.6 millimeters thick but 123.83 millimeters tall and 58.57 millimeters wide, making it the thinnest and tallest iPhone.
Mobile Fun has also informed that the dock connector is located at the bottom of the fuselage and the size of the charger interface is much smaller when compared to the iPhone 4S dock connector.
Elsewhere, Foxconn CEO Terry Gou reportedly sparked controversy at a shareholders' meeting on Monday when he claimed that the next generation iPhone, once released, will put the Galaxy S3 to shame.
According to Focus Taiwan, citing The China Times, the chief executive of Foxconn has made it a lifetime goal to defeat Samsung and feels that consumers should hold off on buying the fabled Galaxy S3, and instead they should wait till the launch of the iPhone 5.
Gou also called Samsung "a company with a track record of snitching on its competitors" and continued "I respect the Japanese and especially like their execution and communication styles. Unlike the Koreans, they will not hit you from behind."
While Foxconn confirmed collaboration with Japan's Sharp Electronics Co. at the meeting, Gou said the partnership will defeat Samsung Electronics in 3 to 5 years.
Last month also Gou sparked controversy and added fuel to the Apple TV rumor fire when he declared that the company is preparing Cupertino's next big thing - iTV.
