During the iPhone 7 launch, Apple gave a preview of all the color options for the new flagship phones and the glossy jet black iPhone proved to be a hit. Now the phones are due for shipping by October or November but there are reports that Apple is going to ship out the units within the month of September.
Ramped Up Jet Black iPhone 7 Delivery Dates
The jet black iPhone 7 sold out right away when Apple accepted preorders for the unit on Sept. 9. During the said date, delivery time stretched from weeks to months and most had a target date of October to November.
However, there were tweets shared to MacRumors that Apple notified those who had preordered the unit that their device would be available in the next few days, cutting up estimated delivery date by weeks.
iPhone 7 Jet Black Prone to Scratches?
As Apple warned, the jet black iPhone 7 is prone to scratching which is why sticking to the classic matte black model is the best choice if you want a black iPhone. In fact, Apple recommends using a case to protect the phone to avoid "fine micro-abrasions".
A senior editor from The Verge posted a reaction to the jet black iPhone 7 on Twitter that garnered a lot of reaction from Apple lovers. Apparently, he is disappointed over the wear and tear of the glossy iPhone 7 and how scratches seem to find their way easily into the mirror surface of the device.
Motive Behind Apple's Creativity Over New Releases
Right after the launching of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, rumors about the iPhone 8 emerged. Based on the rumor mill, the company is using their 2016 flagship phones as a testing ground for the new features that it plans to include in next year's release. It could be possible that Apple is planning to release another glossy phone in 2017 if consumers love it.
Given that it would be the iPhone's 10th anniversary next year, Apple is supposedly keeping its plans under wraps to surprise its fans. Despite the issues with the jet black iPhone 7, it remains to be a novelty.
Hopefully, even with an earlier release date, the jet black iPhone 7 units wouldn't turn out the way Samsung Galaxy Note 7 did. It remains to be seen, however, if customers would love or hate this new Apple creation.
