GoPro Karma Hands On Review: Worth Buying At $999 Bundle With Hero 5 Session?

The GoPro Karma has finally been made official. The drone is a foldable unit and it ships with a small backpack for portability. Its controller has two joysticks and a touchscreen for a more convenient experience. The drone has a three-axis gimbal that allows the camera to maintain its stability, but this can also detached to use the unit in handheld mode. For the camera, the drone is compatible with Hero 4 and the new Hero 5 cameras.

According to The Verge, the GoPro Karma is generally easy to use. Different modes are included and GPS is installed in the drone and in the clamshell controller. Flying the device is also an easy task, mostly because of how its controller is made. The joysticks allow for uncomplicated navigation and there are also multiple buttons for different functions.

Furthermore, there is also a touchscreen LCD within the controller. Here, the user can access the settings to change modes, or watch what the camera sees through live viewing. According to the review, the Go Pro Karma was flown 500 feet away and the video streaming was still uncut. Additionally, the image is high quality and the screen is bright enough for outdoor use.

GoPro Karma Price

According to GSMarena, the GoPro Karma costs $799 if buy it without bundles. With a Hero 5 Session, you can get the GoPro Karma for $999. You can also get it for $1099 with a Hero 5 Black. The Hero 5 Session alone is priced at $299 and the Hero 5 Black is priced at $399. Thus, buying the bundle can actually save you around $100.

GoPro Karma Availability

The GoPro Karma drone will be made available on October 23. However, the Hero 5 Black and the Hero 5 session will be out in advance, with October 2 as their expected release date.
