RX 460 4GB VS GTX 1050 4GB For Gamers On Tight Budget

Right about when AMD has managed to catch up with Nvidia's GTX Ti with the RX 460, Nvidia rebutted with launching the GTX 1050. At this point, the two GPU tech giants have clashed for dominance in the stadium for entry level graphics processors, with rivalry enduring between Nvidia GTX 1050 and AMD RX 460.

The RX 460 packs a GPU designated as Baffin XT, comprising of 16 Compute Units actuated and, therefore, 1024 Shader Processing Units, 64 TMUs, and 16 ROPs, running at 1400 MHz, Yibada reports.

The GTX 1050, on the other hand, is equipped with a GPU named GP107-400, which pack 8 SM activated and so, it will have 1024 Shader Processing Units, 48 TMUs, and 32 ROPS. Its central processing unit runs at a 1316MHz and up to to 1380MHz when over clocked, as reported by Tom's Hardware.

Memory-wise, the two are in close contest as the RX 460 and GTX 1050 both have a 128-bit GDDR5 memory interface and a 112 GB/s memory bandwidth. Also, the memory clock for both GTX's GPU and that of the RX only has a difference of 50MHz.

Judging by their TFLOPS, AMD's Radeon RX 460 packs a 2.2 at maximum performance while the GTX 1050 only has 2.1, which is lower. Both of them, however, are practical for playing non-graphic-intensive games such as Overwatch, DOTA 2, and League of Legends, even at HD resolutions. For superb performance, they should be complimented by a RAM of 8GB - minimum, as told by Game-Debate.

It is also important to have in mind that these cards have variants. GTX will have 1050 2GB and 1050 4GB at $119 and $149 respectively. They will be rolled out by October.

The 4GB variant for RX 460 will retail at $159 as stated on their website which makes it a close competitor for the GTX 1050. AMD also competes with NVidia on other popular video cards like the Radeon RX 470 and 480 but these belongs on other tiers when it comes to price.

In summary, the RX 460 slightly outshines Nvidia GTX 1050 but actual performance scrutinies have found that the GTX 1050 handles better FPS than the RX 460.
