UK Retailer Announces Nintedo NX Launch For December 31

Even if the general opinion within the tech and gaming community is that Nintendo the Nintendo NX is arriving in March 2017, UK supermarket chain Tesco has announced on that they will launch the game console on December 31, 2016.

Nintendo NX To Launch Earlier In The UK?

A page posted on Tesco's website is stating that Nintendo NX Wii U will be released in the UK on December 31, 2016. The page is also giving a price tag for the highly-anticipated game console.

According to the online publication Geek, when it first appeared, the price of Nintendo NX was set on Tesco's product page at £349.99, the equivalent of $450. However, the price has been removed since then.

Unfortunately, the website of the UK retailer Tesco provides no image of the Nintendo NX accompanying the listing. But Tesco is a major UK retailer and we can trust such a page made live.

There are also some tech analysts who believe that the most likely explanation of the posting by Tesco is that this was a mistake. The posting could also be related to a pre-order campaign for the upcoming Nintendo NX game console.

There are other tech experts who think that the fact the product listing remains live after the price has been removed proves that the December 31 launch date in the UK is really going to happen. But no matter the launch date, it is clear that the launch of Nintendo NX could be a major accomplishment for the Nvidia corporation.

Nintendo NX's Financial Impact

According to the website fool.com, the financial impact of the Nintendo NX gaming console could be significant. Rumors leaked over the summer suggest that Nvidia will be the chip manufacturer company that will supply the main processor for Nintendo NX.

Since market analysts expect that the Nintendo NX Wii-U will perform well in the marketplace, the game console could also have a strong financial impact for Nvidia. According to Digitimes, Nintendo's build plans for the NX gaming platform will reach an annual production "estimated at 9.5 to 10 million units". Assuming that Nvidia is truly powering the new game console, based on these numbers this could lead to a significant revenue and profit boost for Nvidia and its Tegra business.
