"Mafia III" head and creative director Haden Blackman revealed that the reimagined game setting of "Mafia III" will offer an exceptional and powerful backdrop for Lincoln Clay's story of crime, betrayal and vengeance. "Mafia III" is set on opening a world full of criminal ecosystems.
"Mafia III" next installment will still hold on to the strong narrative storytelling and immersive setting that "Mafia" games are known for, Blackman added. "Mafia III" Game Publisher 2K Games announced an official release date for the game which will be on Oct. 7.
The game will be available for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Game Developer Hangar 13 also released the first action-packed two-minute long trailer of the game. The game will be set in the late 1960s in New Bordeaux and the game's protagonist will be the Vietnam war veteran Lincoln Clay.
In "Mafia III", Lincoln Clay is on a quest to fight the Italian Mafia in vengeance of the brutal murder of his surrogate family. The three lieutenants in the game will also include the Voodoo Queen. Cassandra is an individual from the Haitan Mob whose leader Baka was slaughtered by Lincoln Clay. She and Lincoln then form an unlikely alliance. The Voodoo Queen is expected to destroy the human trafficking trade in New Bordeaux together with Thomas Burke and Vito Scaletta.
Meanwhile, another "Mafia III" gameplay video was spotted online that revealed a driving option that makes the game more realistic. The game's driving mode made the cars heavier and faster than the previous entries of the series that aims on making the game more realistic. The video also showed collision damage.
"Mafia III" is set in a fictional version of 1968 New Orleans and will raise issues concerning racism. Previously, Blackman had also revealed that the game will implement a feature that will elicit a response from the police when the main character is already in a strange place, so racism is expected to impact the game outside of the narrative.
