Edifi, the World's First Christian Tablet, Prepares for Deliverance to the Masses

Korean manufacturer Cydle has developed a tablet computer for the group Family Christian, which said group is claiming as the world's first Christian tablet.

"We wanted to be able to offer our customers the ability to use our Holy Bible application, which has 27 different English translations of the Bible," Brian Honorable, Family Christian technology supervisor, told FoxNews.com in an interview. "It goes along with our mission: trying to get people closer to God ... through a tablet."

The device sports 512 MB of RAM, 8 GB of expandable storage, and a 480 x 800 resistive touch screen. Family Christian sees it taking on Amazon's Kindle in a head to head holy war, and claims their device is not only cheaper, it's also better (and 100% more Christian).

"We basically stacked it up to [Amazon's] Kindle Fire," Honorable said. "Only theirs is $199.99. Ours is $149.99. The battery is actually stronger than everybody else out there on the market."

Besides having 27 different versions of the Bible (which seems to be about 26 more than necessary), the tablet comes preloaded with a bunch of Christian radio stations so the faithful can revel in the sounds of piety. The web browser also comes with a built-in safe search function, so those meddling kids can't accidentally stumble into the vile and evil areas of the internet, like all those atheist websites.

Unfortunately, Family Christian and Cydle are still busy working on an app that will allow the devout to communicate directly with God. They do however have future versions of the holy tablet in the works, with better screen technology planned.

You can find out more about the Edifi tablet and purchase it through the Family Christian website.

What do you think? Is this just typical marketing mumbo-jumbo to try and hype a regular tablet with a few Christian features on it into something more than it is? Or should ventures like this be applauded for targeting specific customers and providing them with a service tailored to their lifestyles?
