French Customer Smashes Every iPhone, iMac And MacBook Air In Apple Store

An angry customer, apparently upset at perceived unsatisfactory Apple customer support, has used a steel ball to destroy various products inside a French Apple retail store in Dijon.

iMacs, iPhones and MacBook Airs Smashed Inside Apple Store

An unnamed customer wearing Apple earbuds the whole time used a steel ball from French game Petanque to smash and destroy four iMac displays, 12 iPhones and a MacBook Air on video. However, the damages were bigger than that, since not the entire rampage was caught on video.

The video was posted online Twitter on Thursday, Sept. 29, by @Quentin_IOS. It was since been taken down but can still be found on YouTube.

Wearing a protective glove on his hand, the customer in question clearly came prepared for the attack. According to game experts, Petanque balls are usually quite heavy, as they generally weigh in the range between 2 and 2.5 pounds.

According to Apple Insider, the French customer blames Apple for not taking back a self-proclaimed defective product. The specifics of his case are unclear at the moment, but it seems that he tried to claim warranty within an EU-mandated two-year period.

CNET reports that the angry man can be heard on video saying that the store refused to reimburse him and this is the reason for his actions. He picked the upright phones up, placed them on the table and then smashed them with the Petanque, appearing very meticulous in his actions.

After his nearly 10-minute rampage, the upset customer was finally accosted by mall security. He tried to run away but the security personnel were faster. The man was ultimately arrested by local police.

On Thursday, the same day the video with the angry customer made its way online, Apple released an ad encouraging its customers to better express themselves. Perhaps the angry French customer's actions are not what the high-tech company had in mind.
