iPhone 7 Tricks and Tips: Take 3D Photos with this New Plus App

The iPhone 7 Plus, with its dual camera set-up, certainly takes good pictures. But this new app wants to step up the game by allowing users to take 3D photos.

Users can now take 3D images using their iPhone 7 Plus by using the third-party camera app called ProCam 4. As per Forbes, the app utilizes the handset's dual cameras to produce cool-looking images.

iPhone 7 Plus 3D Photos Technology

The app works by snapping photos using the iPhone 7 Plus dual cameras and using the different perspectives that the lenses create that will result to what is called a stereoscopic image. The end result is a "wigglegram" that quickly shifts between the two created images, imitating a 3D effect.

The iPhone 7 Plus app, however, does not automatically create a "wigglegram" after pressing the shutter button. The user will be presented with two overlapping photos, the subject of which should be perfectly aligned. This is done manually, so while it is indeed a cool app, it does not provide instant 3D pictures.

iPhone 7 Plus Bokeh Effect

The iOS 10.1 update that recently rolled out as beta now enables users to fully enjoy their iPhone 7 Plus' dual cameras. According to CNET, pictures will now have a greater sense of depth when using the portrait mode.

The beta can be exclusively downloaded by those who are part of Apple's Beta Software Program, but anyone can sign up here.

For those who already have the beta installed on their phones, they can simply go to the Camera app and select portrait mode. Directions will appear on the screen and if followed, a yellow sign with "Depth Effect" will pop up. Users can then hit the shutter button and wait until the picture is fully taken.

The iPhone 7 dual camera certainly offers a lot more options for the average consumer. High quality photos and cool effects are now just a shutter click away.
