One of the biggest titles coming this year is from Activision's Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. But aside from that, fans are also anticipating the arrival of the remastered version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. And finally, an important detail about the latter's upcoming existence has been revealed.
According to GameSpot, the aforementioned remaster is believed to be made playable if and only if the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare disc is inserted so as to play the game. The information surfaced from a text line in the franchise's official website. As previously announced, the Modern Warfare remastered will arrive as a digital-only title, one that is available via the Infinite Warfare's so-called premium editions (priced at $80).
Here's the full text line in the above-mentioned site: "Modern Warfare Remastered is a full game download (game disc [Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare]must be inserted to play Modern Warfare Remastered). Internet connection required."
It's also worth noting that Activision suggests Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare fans to be redirected to a full FAQ page. However, it doesn't give away the exact details about the portion where it says "game disc must be inserted." Hence for people who'll purchase the upcoming title as a digital version, it won't be applied to them.
The talked about reason why Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare disc must be inserted -- prior to playing the Modern Warfare remaster -- is to prevent the possibility of pirating it. Or perhaps, doing so will prohibit people from selling another copy of the game while being able to continue playing the remastered title.
As of this writing, the publisher of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Activision has yet to reveal if Modern Warfare Remastered will be sold as a separate product or not. The studio didn't also confirm the possibility of doing it the other way around.
