"Dark Souls 3" has already been confirmed to release its first downloadable content (DLC) Ashes Of Ariandel on Oct. 25 and fanatics seem to be very much enthusiastic about what this DLC will bring on the table. As From Software revealed exciting new additions in the gameplay that include new bosses and weapons, here's what we know so far:
"Dark Souls 3: Ashes Of Ariandel" 2 New Boss Battles, More Weapons
This might be the most talked about as of the time because for many of us, new DLC means new boss fights and new ammunition. The director spoiled that Ashes of Ariandel will have two new boss fights-each being completely different. According to a leakster, the new bosses are a man named Gravetender and a wolf called Greatwolf. Even so, there's no statement yet from From Software confirming the claim.
"Dark Souls 3: Ashes Of Ariandel" New Enemies: Attacking Trees, Pack Of Wolves
In an interview with Polygon, "Dark Souls 3" director and From Software president Hidetaka Miyazaki described Ashes of Ariandel as "mysterious" and "unique." He said his team aims for a "gothic flavor" that will certainly be passed on until the second DLC, which remains to be unnamed for now.
It was first revealed that Ashes of Ariandel has entirely distinct design from the base game. For one, a new snow-covered space somewhere is quite massive. First time in the current "Dark Souls" installment, this environment also opens to more paths to explore.
As for the new enemies in the said area, two additions have been confirmed -- trees and wolves. Though withered and leafless, the non-moving trees along the hillsides of the area come to life. They will try to catch players or attack them with fireballs at a distance. On the other hand, the wily pack of wolves will only attack when they are in group.
"Dark Souls 3" Revives Painted World
Originally introduced in the first "Dark Souls" installment, the Painted World makes a comeback in the third installment. Mizayaki however noted that the Painted World of Ariandel has no direct link to the Painted World of Ariamis in "Dark Souls 1."
As to the reason why the famed Painted World returns, he said: "It matches with the theme I'm trying to describe in the first DLC. Caveat though: you will only understand this when you play Ashes of Ariandel.
Is "Dark Souls 3" Really The Last?
It may be sad to know that the "Dark Souls" series may end with the third installment's second DLC, though many are still hoping for more to come. In fact, Miyazaki confirmed that the end is just temporary as he plans to continue the series. When? That's what we have to wait for.
"Dark Souls: Ashes of Ariandel" DLC launches Oct. 25 on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC for $14.99 only. For "Dark Souls 3" Season Pass holders, Ashes of Ariandel comes for free.
