When Facebook acquired Whatsapp, the messaging app has an overhaul. The social networking company is now using the messaging app to defeat Snapchat's creative tools. The latest version allows users to doodle on images and videos.
Whatsapp New Looks And Tools
The latest Whatsapp update allows users to customize photos and videos with emojis and doodles that can be used as a design before sending into a conversation. Also, texts with colorful fonts can be added on pictures, a feature that debuted early in September, according to a report from The Verge.
WhatsApp's camera is given emphasis with its newest feature that can take a perfect selfie even in low light and at night. New features were introduced such as zooming while recording a video by sliding the fingers up and down and double tapping the screen to switch between the rear and front camera.
Besides the customization of photos and videos, users of the messaging app can share music for iOS operated phones.
Multimedia apps have included in their system the power of customization, according to Digital Trends. Android users are the first one to test the beta version of Whatsapp. An iOS version will soon be released after its overhaul.
Snapchat Is A Threat To Facebook And Its Acquired Apps
Facebook seems to be copying Snapchat's famous trademark. It started in Instagram when they released the Stories feature. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, is threatened with Snapchat's growing users because before it was a big thing, Evan Spiegel turned down Zuckerberg's offer.
Facebook looks like it successfully copied Snapchat's features. Snapchat has 150 million users globally and 60 million of them are from U.S. and Canada. While WhatsApp and Facebook have 1 billion active users, it seems that it is not enough measurement of success, according to Tech Crunch.
Facebook is very determined to stop Snapchat's success by creating better or copying what Snapchat has to offer to its users.
