The much-awaited Intel Kaby Lake processor has been leaked via another benchmarking website, signaling an imminent launch that may fall in January 2017. Consequently, it is rumored that the Surface Phone is just trailing behind.
Intel Kaby Lake Specs Revealed by Geekbench
Intel's seventh-generation processor ran through benchmark tests, in which it scored 6,139 in single-core and 20,271 in multi-core. The Kaby Lake chip should sport an Intel Core i7-7700K quad-core processor clocked at 4.2 GHz, according to the Geekbench results.
The results were certainly impressive. Reports have noted a 14.7 percent performance increase from its predecessor. It is also about 18.5 percent faster than the Intel Skylake processor.
Other details revealed include a Gigabyte Z270XP-SLI-CF motherboard with 32GB RAM.
Intel Kaby Lake Release to Herald in the Surface Phone?
Microsoft's elusive Surface Phone is widely believed to sport Intel Kaby Lake processor once it comes out. With reports stating that the seventh-generation Intel processor is coming early 2017, rumors pointing to the handset's arrival with it spread like wildfire.
It was previously rumored that the Surface Phone was delayed due to the late launch of the processor. Now that a reveal is coming soon, fans are now expecting Microsoft to unveil the much-awaited handset along with it in January 2017 or soon after.
Surface Phone is Being Groomed to be a Monster Handset
With an Intel Kaby Lake on board, fans are expecting a high-powered device that can compete with the top brands today. Other expected specs include a 3GB RAM for its lower-specced variant, a 6GB RAM for the second one and a massive 8GB RAM for the premium version.
It also seems that Microsoft is not slowing down on the camera deparment. A 21MP rear shooter is expected at the back and an 8MP camera at the front. With these kind of specs, no one would be surprised if the Redmond-based company decides to price the Surface Phone at $1,099.
