On Monday, Oct. 10, Apple released the third beta of its upcoming iOS 10.1 update to developers; for testing purposes.
Apple's Third Developer Beta iOS 10.1
According to MacRumors, the third developer beta version of iOS 10.1 update comes just a month after the release of the iOS 10 to the public and one week after the release of the second iOS 10.1 beta. Once the proper configuration profile is installed, the new iOS 10.1 beta can be downloaded by registered developers over-the-air or from the Apple Developer Center. The iOS 10.1 update introduces new features, including a new "Portrait" mode for the iPhone 7 Plus that allows the device to create shallow depth on field portrait photos that have blurred backgrounds.
The shallow depth effect is achieved by taking advantage of the two built-in cameras that come on Apple's iPhone 7 Plus. In order to achieve the blurred look, the iPhone 7 Plus' image signal processor uses the wide-angle camera to create a depth map. The different layers of the photo are then analyzed by special algorithms in order to decide what to blur.
In order to achieve the proper effect, the feature requires good lighting. The shallow depth feature with blurred backgrounds works on objects, pets and people. This is a photographing technique that wasn't previously implemented on a mobile phone.
Fixing iOS 10 Bugs And Issues
The iOS 10.1 update also includes under-the-hood improvements and bug fixes to address various issues uncovered since Apple's iOS 10 was first released. Apple described its iOS 10 as the "biggest release ever" for iOS users. Among the interesting features introduced by the new operating system are included a Siri SDK to allow third-party apps to integrate with Siri, a redesigned Lock screen and a completely redesigned Messages app with stickers, Bubble Effects, Digital Touch, full App Store integration and more.
According to Gotta Be Mobile, Apple's iOS 10 is a solid update but it is far from being perfect. Issues encountered after installing the iOS 10 update are reported by many iPad and iPhone owners. Tech experts hope that the iOS 10.1 update will address all these problems.
