'Wentworth' Season 5 News And Updates: Production Hasn't Started Yet; Leads To Cancellation?

After the death of "Wentworth's" protagonist, Bea Smith, there have been many questions that started to resurface about the events that will transpire in the upcoming season five. Some have speculated that the upcoming season may not even happen at all especially that production hasn't reportedly begun yet.

Bea's Death In "Wentworth" Needed To Happen To Progress Storyline

It can be recalled that Bea's death during the season four finale of "Wentworth" has shocked the viewers and have been expecting for her to return. However, it has been confirmed that her character did indeed die and when "Wentworth" returns for season five, her character would no longer be joining the storyline. Thus, this has led to the fans of the show becoming disappointed.

The producers of "Wentworth" have assured the fans of the show that her death, as surprising as it may have been, was a part of the storyline. It was something that needed to happen for the story to progress. Nevertheless, Kate Jenkinson, who plays Bea's lover Allie Novak in the series, assured that she will seek revenge for her lover's death.

Kate Jenkinson Just On Vacation, "Wentworth" Season 5 Not Canceled

Jenkinson is currently on vacation now, based on the pictures that she has posted on social media. This has then led to the assumption that production for "Wentworth" season five hasn't started yet since one of the protagonists of the show is still out enjoying her free time. Thus, some have assumed that this may mean season five of the series is not happening. However, since Jenkinson already assured the fans in past interviews that she will avenge Bea's death, it is highly unlikely that the show was canceled.

Bea's death does not also mean that Novak will take her place in the prison cell and will become the show's new protagonist. There are still many things bound to happen in the upcoming season that could indeed surprise the viewers.
