Everybody have probably seen and heard of the epic science fiction film Avatar that was released in 2009 which was directed, written, produced, and co-edited by James Cameron. The movie became and is still one of the most watched movies of all time considering the fact that it was truly beautifully created. Because of its success over the years, James Cameron confirmed in the past year that there will be an Avatar 2 and they're working on it.
In the past years, it was previously announced that Avatar 2 will be released on December 2014, unfortunately, due to some reasons it didn't happen. Then it 2015, the sequel was promised to be released in January 2016, in which did not happen again. Based on a report, the reason why the movie has been delayed for a lot of times is because of its writing progress. In previous reports, it was also revealed that Avatar might have four movie sequels.
As of today, there is still no confirmed release date for Avatar 2; and from a recent report, James Cameron stated that he wanted the release dates of the upcoming sequels to be closer to each other as much as possible. The first sequel might be released in 2018. Then the third sequel which is the Avatar 3 will be probably hitting the big screens in 2020, Avatar 4 will be in 2022 and lastly, Avatar 5 is set for 2023.
The plot's theme in Avatar 2 will be about "familial and imprisonment" nobody really knows what that means but it is what James Cameron teased during an interview. He also revealed some plots saying that in the first sequel Sully is becomes the chieftain and Neytiri, on the other hand becomes a high priestess of their clan.
Most of the events however, will be focusing more on their children. Cameron also stated that they will be diving into the depths of Pandora; which includes the underwater and volcanic environments. The filmmakers said that the sequels can stand on their own as well.
Meanwhile, Cameron promised that the movies will be so good that "you s**t yourself with your mouth wide open."
This is something to look forward to.
