A couple of years ago, Sony made a deal with Marvel Studios to allow Spider-man to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Studios in which Marvel agreed to. Spider-man: Homecoming will be released on the year 2017 in which Sony Boss Tom Rothman referred to as "fabulous". He also mentioned to Collider News that they're really excited about the movie.
However, before the deal was made, an announcement was once made about the development of Spider-man spinoff films and fans are now wondering whether the films are still going to be released or not. Recently, the chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment's Motion Picture Group, Tom Rothman, revealed that fans might still see them and that the spin-off films will be released before long.
"We're working on a lot of that stuff," he said. "There's a concerted effort, so I think there will be real news as opposed to speculated news before too long." Rothman said to Collider during an interview.
Now that the Spider-man spin-off films are on the news, fans speculated that Venom will be one of the films' stars. An article that was published earlier this year talked about Venom and that the Villain may be getting his own film due to reports that Venom's development is already active in the studio. Meanwhile, Dante Harper is the one who is tasked to write the script for the movie.
Fans are already familiar with Venom given the fact that Venom has already appeared in the big screen before and it was during Spider-man 3 in which the character was played by Topher Grace. The fact that Venom will be getting his own movie is bringing nothing but excitement to fans.
There are two main projects that Sony was working on before the Marvel deal. These were The Sinister Six and Venom Films. The Sinister Six however, was supposed to follow Amazing Spider-man 2, together with Daredevil and The Martian which are all written and directed by Drew Goddard but last year, he was able to explain to IO9 that his idea for the project will still work within Marvel Cinematic Studios.
