A Sonder representative has given leaks that the company had recently attended Foxconn's Innoconnn demo day, and in that same manner, Sonder is currently close to signing contracts with three third-party laptop companies to incorporate the Sonder technology into their products
According to the Sonder representative
On the subject of Apple, the spokesperson stated that "Sonder has been in discussions with Apple's procurement board regarding Sonder's laptop module. Foxconn International Holdings and E Ink Holdings - both strategic partners of Sonder Design Pty. Ltd. are assisting with the above discussions." Apple has been asked for comments regarding the matter, as well as Foxconn for any confirmation of Sonder's claims. However, as they always do, Apple and Foxconn remain silent.
A Reddit user intensifies the speculation
On the other end, a Reddit user has posted leaks about some clear details regarding a new keyboard design that may be rolled out on future MacBook laptops. The user, whose handle goes with the names 'Foxconninsider', explains that primary Apple supplier, Foxconn, presented some significant secrets about Apple designs at the Tsinghua University campus in China, where he claimed to be working.
More information regarding the speculated Macbook keyboard
According to the user, Foxconn hosted a demo day on the campus, where Australian start-up company, Sonder, was also present. Sonder was in the headlines a year ago after leaking a smart keyboard module that features a backlit e-ink display that allowed for a shortcut- and language-swapping. The users claim that a Foxconn representative said that Apple's Procurement Board Office "was closing on an agreement" for Sonder. He also claims that he witnessed testing versions of the new MacBook keyboard module, as well as Apple's 2018 E Ink Magic Keyboard.
One word, "If"
If all of his claims were right, we are going to be expecting a much-improved MacBook keyboard redesign that will be set to launch later this month. Reports were already swirling about Apple planning to replace the top row of function keys on the MacBook with a touch-friendly OLED display. Now, with this new claim coming out, it seems that the once rumors are now turning into a reality.
