GTA 6 Update: What Is The Reason For Delay? Find Out Why

GTA 6 development is reportedly suspended indefinitely. What could be the reason why Rockstar Games will do this to their fans?

Grand Theft Auto 6 - Launch Date Uncertain?

There have been rumors that GTA 6 developer Rockstar Games has stopped development of the upcoming game indefinitely. Speculators are spreading their own theories about this rumor. But it seems it all boils down to money either too much or too little.

Grand Theft Auto 5 Still A Big Money Maker

The reason why a lot of players cannot wait for GTA VI is because of GTA V. The current installment is still widely popular that fans are excited to what the next GTA installment will bring. However, Rockstar Games see thing differently.

GTA V is a big money maker for the developer, according to fraghero. The GTA online game is quite profitable that Rockstar has made equally big investments in terms of finances and programmers to keep GTA V contents updated and fresh. This means that releasing a GTA VI right now will threaten the GTA V cash cow and jeopardized Rockstar's investment.

Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) Too Costly To Develop?

There is a rumor that Rockstar Games will need $500 million or more to develop the upcoming GTA VI. The amount seems ridiculous but there is more to this story. Rockstar plans to include VR support for GTA VI. This is the reason why the GTA VI development cost is double the amount of the last game.

GTA V may have cost Rockstar games $250 million to develop but it's worth it. Revenues for the current GTA game are estimated to around $1 billion which is not bad.

GTA 6 Estimated Release Date

The usual release cycle for a GTA game is normally five years apart. Following this pattern means that the upcoming GTA VI should be release on 2018. But now industry observers are estimating that GTA VI might take an additional two years before its ready. That means a 2020 release date.
