It has been confirmed and the deal has been sealed: Overwatch's D.Va is coming to Starcraft as Blizzard's secret reward to Starcraft fans.
A couple of days ago, Starcraft fans got overexcited when the game announced a secret reward coming to the game. Then the game's official Twitter account posted two mysterious tweets. The first one was a 'wink' emoticon and the other is the bunny ears.
Overwatch fans and everyone who is familiar with Overwatch knows that both of those trademarks are associated with D.Va, the game's young fictional character who also happens to be a Starcraft pro. The bunny gear is, of course, part of D.Va's in-game gear and cosmetics while "winky face" is one of her famous voice lines.
Fans went in a frenzy at that time making wild guesses if Blizzard was cashing in on D.Va's history as a Starcraft gamer and planning a crossover. Turned out that all those speculations are true and hopes are up as Blizzard announced that D.Va will indeed make a guest appearance in Starcraft 2.
However, those who are expecting D.Va as one of the Starcraft fighters will be disappointed because the young fictional Starcraft pro will appear as the game's announcer providing the voice over for the game.
D.Va will come to Starcraft 2 as a voice over pack and will most probably be done by the Korean voice actress, Charlet Chung, who also voices D.Va in Overwatch. The character is just an introduction to Blizzard's voice over packs as an addition to Starcraft 2 cosmetics.
D.Va's voice over has drawn some mixed emotions from Starcraft fans but most are looking forward to D.Va in Starcraft 2 wondering how it would feel to have a teenager tell you to build more supply depots. It might take some of the stress away as players attempt a last-minute effort to strengthen their mineral supply.
Battle.net has announced that players will be able to unlock the D.Va voice pack and her portrait when they attend BlizzCon 2016 or purchased a Virtual Ticket to watch BlizzCon at home.
