Brad Pitt met with his 15-year-old son, Maddox Jolie-Pitt, on Wednesday, October 19, between his bellicose custody battle with separated wife Angelina Jolie, Us Weekly confirmed.
This is the first time that the Fight Club character actor, 52, has seen Maddox since he and the teen debated during a September 14 flight on the former couple's private plane. A source beforehand told Us that the episode prompted Jolie "to act and file" for divorce from Pitt. She tabulated official documents on September 19, citing incompatible differences.
"He chose not to go and stayed with Angie," a Jolie confidante told Us. (Because he is older than 14, by California law he can decide which parent he would prefer to live with.)
"He doesn't really see himself as Brad's son," another source told Us of the Cambodia native, who was legally adopted by Pitt in 2006, four years after Jolie adopted him on her own.
As part of a temporary custody agreement the former married couple reached in September, Angelina was given full sole custody of their kids, and Brad received visitation legal rights. (The exes also agreed to individual and joint counseling.) Brad has seen his kids twice since flight-fight incident, with the exception for Maddox.
In accordance with good a source, the kid was "mad at his dad" before however as time passes by they finally came together. Heretofore, a source exposed that the actor still was eager "to see the kids and to work out an arrangement that is best for them; he wants to work things out privately and amicably."
"He wants to handle this privately," the source said, adding that during the child custody process, "the different things that needed to happen are happening."
